2007 Summer Science Camp

Attention 1st through 8th graders!! The museum is offering various sessions designed especially for you. Join us in six different fun filled sessions exploring the world of science and history. (Space is limited to 25 students per session.)

JULY 16-19, SESSION 1a - Sharks – Become a Marine Biologist.
Learn about the facts and the tales regarding Sharks. Can you identify a shark from only one tooth? Presented by C. Villasenor; Level: 4th grade to 8th grade.

JULY 16-19, SESSION 1b - Native American Dwellings
Hands-On activities include: Building your own model of a Native American Dwelling. Presented by R. Weyant; Level: 1st grade to third grade.

JULY 23-26, SESSION 2a - Mr. Linnaeus Meets The One-Eyed, One-Horned, Flying Purple People Eater. Charles Linnaeus developed a system by which scientists are able to group animals based on similar characteristics. What would he have done with our Purple People Eater? Students will have the opportunity to classify our people eater, create their own 'animal', and then see where it fits in the Linnaean system. Presented by R. Weyant; Level: 4th to 8th grade.

JULY 23-26, SESSION 2b - Ocean Friends –
We will learn about the various depths of the ocean, the life (both plant and animal) that lives at each level, what they contribute to us as human beings living on land, and what humans can and must do for them. Presented by S. Turnbull; Level: 1st grade to 3rd grade.

7/ 30 to 8/2, SESSION 3a - The Home Grown Zoo-Invertebrates Zoo
This will be an exploration of the animals found around your house, your own zoo. Come and learn. Presented by D. Hanley; Level: 4th grade to 8th grade.

7/ 30 to 8/2, SESSION 3b - Museum Science
Exploring the BV Natural History Museum with all of your senses. Presented by P. Angell and Guests; Level: 1st grade to third grade.

Sessions run Monday through Thursday form 8:00 am to 12:00 noon. Cost - $80.00 (Members of the museum $70.00) per student/per session. Mid-morning snack, science Camp memorabilia and all materials included. Sign-up and pay for 2 sessions to receive a $5 discount.* Click here for Registration Form
